House break Lincoln Street

On 1/20/2016, at approximately 4pm, Norton Police responded to a residence on Lincoln Street for a report of a breaking and entering in progress.  The caller was a teenager in the home and told the dispatcher that a man had entered the home and then ran back outside.  When officers arrived, they briefly spoke with two teens who were home at the time.  The teens stated that a man entered the residence, believed to be through a window, went upstairs where they were and then fled.  Police searched the area for the male subject, and was assisted by the Massachusetts State Police K-9 Unit.  The male subject was found by Norton Police Detective James Franco and Patrolman Jarrad Morse a short distance away from the residence.

The male, identified as Stephen Mudge, age 45, of Norton, was placed under arrest.  Mudge is charged by Norton police with breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a felony while placing a person in fear, larceny from a building and possession of a class E substance.  Mudge is being held on $10,000 cash bail and will appear in the Attleboro District Court on Thursday, 1/21/2016.
