M/V Pursuit & Arrest

On 1/13/2019, at 9:30pm, Norton Police Patrolman Jarrad Morse attempted to stop a vehicle on West Main Street in Norton.  Ptlm. Morse was attempting to respond to a 911 call by activating his police vehicle’s blue lights and siren as he approached the vehicle.  The operator of the vehicle, Trevor Harrison, age 22, of South Attleboro, believed he was being stopped by police and accelerated in an attempt to flee.  Ptlm. Morse then attempted to stop the vehicle and notified other officers.  Harrison’s vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, heading east on West Main Street, before it crashed at the intersection of Taunton Avenue and West Main Street (Rt. 140/Rt. 123).  The vehicle struck a utility pole and Harrison attempted to flee on foot toward Wheaton College.  Ptlm. Morse pursued Harrison on foot.  During the foot pursuit, Harrison attempted to discard drugs that he had on him.  After Harrison attempted to fight with police, he was placed into custody by Ptlm. Morse and Sgt. John Eisnor.  Harrison was transported by the Norton Fire Department to Sturdy Hospital, and then to Rhode Island Hospital, for non-life threatening injuries.  He was released from Rhode Island Hospital this morning and transported back to the Norton police station.

Harrison’s charges include failure to stop for police, speeding, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, possession of a class C drug (Marijuana Dabs) and trafficking Cocaine, as well as other motor vehicle offenses.  Harrison was held on $50,000 bail and appeared in the Attleboro District Court this morning (1/14/19).
