Birth, Death and Marriage Records

The Town Clerk can provide certified copies of all birth, death and marriage records that we have on file.  Records not on file with the Town of Norton can be obtained through the Massachusetts State Registry of Vital Statistics.  We keep these records on file:

  • Birth records: for anyone born in the town or whose parents were living in the town at the time of the birth.
  • Death records: for any death in the town or if the deceased was a resident of the town at the time of death.
  • Marriage records: for any couple who filed their intentions through the town.  Please note that even if the marriage took place in Town, we will not have the record unless the marriage intentions were filed here.

You can request certified copies of these records in person, by phone, or online by clicking here.  Please be ready to provide the name of the person or persons, the type of record you are requesting, the date of the event and where the event occurred.  Certified copies of birth, death or marriage certificates cost $10.00.

The Public Record Law of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts allows us 10 days to provide these records.  However, we are usually able to accommodate your request within one day.  If your request cannot be fulfilled in the 10-day period, we will notify you for an extension.
