OPPORTUNITIES

  • This 20-acre site offers the opportunity for a mix of uses, including retail, residential, and recreational, which can take advantage of the beautiful views of the Rumford River.  The site is close to Wheaton College, the Village Center, and Town Hall, Library, Police and Fire Department.  Scroll down to see important documents related to the site.
  • The site is eligible for EPA Cleanup grant funding.

COMPLETED WORK

  • Much work has been done to prepare the site for development.  Here are some important highlights of completed work:
    • See below for completed Phase I and Phase II Assessments  to identify contamination.
    • Here is a consolidated list of environmental reports and the EPA website
    • The Town demolished two buildings on Cross Street that were at risk of collapsing onto the street.
    • The property was rezoned to Village Commercial to allow residential and commercial uses. Here is the zoning use table and table of dimensions to help you see what is allowed in Village Commercial
    • The Town received a $3.5 million MassWorks grant to construct a water line along Elm Street that would connect to the redevelopment site and provide sufficient fire flow.
