- Altus Dental Insurance – Must be active on the plan when you retiree to continue coverage
- Boston Mutual Basic Life Insurance - Must be active on the plan when you retiree to continue coverage
Open Enrollment Schedule:
Blue Cross HMO & PPO & Dental – May for July 1st start
Blue Cross Medex 2– November for Jan 1st start
Planning to retire?
- Contact your Retirement Board at least three months prior to retirement
- Over 65? Apply for Medicare A & B to be eligible for the Town Supplemental Plans
- Complete the New Retiree Information Form
- Schedule an appointment with Payroll & Benefits to go over the retiree benefits
Health Insurance
Retired Employees under 65
There are two Blue Cross Blue Shield plans offered to retirees under 65 or who are not eligible for Medicare.
To enroll in any of the health insurance plans you will need to submit the following documents:
- Blue Cross Enrollment Form
- Health Insurance Affidavit
- Birth certificate for employee, spouse, and dependents
- Social Security number for employee, spouse, and dependents
Retired Employees over 65
The Town of Norton offers one Medicare Supplemental Plan to our retirees.

Dental Insurance
All retirees must be enrolled in a Dental Plan at the time of retirement to continue their coverage. Dental Plan options can be changed during Open Enrollment.

Life Insurance
All retirees enrolled in the Boston Mutual Life Basic Plan can continue their coverage at the time of retirement. The plan amount decreases to $2,000. For Boston Mutual Life Insurance Claims - Please contact the Payroll & Benefits Office to have this information sent out to you.
- Basic Plan - provides a $2,000 Death Benefit and a $2,000 Accidental Death Dismemberment Benefit. The Town pays 75% of the premium cost and the retiree pays 25%.

The Town of Norton offers a Health Reimbursement Plan (HRA) to its' employees and non-Medicare retirees on the following health plans:
