Town of Norton

Norton, MA 02766

Dear Members of the Select Board:

I am pleased to inform you that, following the recommendation of the Norton Opioid Prevention and Education (NOPE) Collaborative, I have approved the award of $26,500 in opioid settlement grant funding to three outstanding community organizations whose work reflects compassion, service, and a strong commitment to improving the lives of Norton residents.

The awards are as follows:

•     Grit and Grace – $5,000

•     St. Vincent de Paul – $15,000

•     Sun Will Rise – $6,500

These organizations represent the very best of our community. Through their dedication, they provide critical resources, hope, and support to individuals and families affected by substance use disorder, mental health challenges, food insecurity, and other hardships. Their work extends beyond direct services by fostering resilience, strengthening community connections, and helping create pathways toward recovery and long-term stability.

The NOPE Collaborative carefully reviewed each proposal and, after thoughtful discussion, unanimously recommended funding all three initiatives. I appreciate the Collaborative’s diligence and commitment to ensuring these funds are invested where they can have a meaningful and positive impact.

I would also like to recognize Chief Brian Clark and every member of the NOPE Collaborative for the time, expertise, and compassion they continue to invest in addressing one of the most significant public health challenges facing our community. Their leadership and partnership have helped build a collaborative approach focused on prevention, education, treatment, and recovery.

As a condition of accepting these awards, each recipient organization will designate a representative to participate in the NOPE Collaborative’s quarterly meetings. This continued partnership will help strengthen communication, encourage collaboration among service providers, and ensure these investments continue to benefit Norton residents.

I want to make the Select Board aware of these awards and recognize the remarkable organizations, volunteers, and partners whose work makes Norton a stronger, healthier, and more compassionate community.

Respectfully,

/s/ Mark S. Gould, Jr.
