West Nile Virus Update - August 22, 2023

Attention all Norton Residents!
A Mosquito sample from Norton on 8/15/23 tested Positive for West Nile Virus(WNV).
Due to this evidence that WNV is in the community, we have raised our risk level to Moderate.
What does this mean?
It means its time to practice our Mosquito Safety such as:
- Wear Long Sleeves and Long Pants when outdoors from dusk to dawn.
- Use mosquito repellant when outdoors.
- Repair any holes in screens on your windows and doors.
- Dump any standing water on your property that could be a breeding ground for more mosquitos.
Currently, Norton is in the LOW-RISK EEE category.
Currently, Norton is in the MODERATE RISK category for WNV.
