Message from the Town Clerk regarding Dog Licensing, Annual Town Census, and 2024 Elections

To all Norton Residents

DOG LICENSING
Starting December 1, 2023, we will start licensing your dog for 2024.

Anyone who is 70 years of age or older will be able to license their dog for FREE. (Only one dog per household )
Since the age of 70 is the new 50, the age of 80 is the new 60, the age of 90 is the new 70, and so on, you all look younger than you really are, so please have an ID with you.

You can license your dog for up to 3 years based on the rabies expiration date.
Rabies expiring in 2024 – 1 year
Rabies expiring in 2025 – 2 years
Rabies expiring in 2026-2027 – 3 years.

If you wish to license as normal for one year only, no matter when the rabies expires, you certainly can.

If you have any questions, I encourage you to please call the Town Clerk’s Office at 508-285-0230, and we will be more than happy to accommodate.

Applications for those who mail their payments in (and please do not mail cash) can be found on the Town Clerk’s website page at nortonma.org/town/clerk

CENSUS
The Annual Town Census will be mailed out on December 8th.

NOTE: Although the Census shows your party affiliation, you cannot change your party affiliation on the Census itself. You can either come into Town Hall or go to sec.state.ma.us/ovr/

I encourage you to please read the directions, sign them, and get them back to us ASAP. We have a huge election year coming up in 2024, and we don’t want to see you have any hold-ups at the polls because we did not receive it back.

You may mail your census back, bring it to the Town Clerk’s Office, or drop it into the ballot box outside the front of the Town Hall.

ELECTIONS, 2024 (We have 4)
It is still a little too early to pass information out to you, but please know once the State lets us know, I shall spread the news to you right away.

I wish all of you a very happy and safe Holiday Season.

Please be safe, be well, and be kind.

Thank you for your time.

Lucia Longhurst
Town Clerk
