"All Time High" Significant Precipitation Events January - April 2024- Norton MA

Many of you are experiencing flooding in your yards and basements. As you can see from the data below, we have been experiencing extraordinary conditions over the last 3 months. We need the pattern to change, the rivers to recede, and the ground to begin to dry out before we see improvement.

It would appear that historic precipitation data from NOAA suggests that between January – April 2024, the Town of Norton will be close to or above the all-time high (within the last ~25 years), with said record set in 2010. With the extensive amount of flooding, seasonal high groundwater, and the natural rivers being at max capacity, (USGS Stream gauge – Wading River) reporting 99th percentile discharge rates (10x the median 133 cf/s)
