Floodplain Permits

**NEW**Elevation Certificate (2022 Edition)is an official record that shows new buildings and substantial improvements in all identified Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHAs) are properly elevated. This elevation information is needed to show compliance with the floodplain management ordinance. FEMA encourages communities to use the Elevation Certificate developed by FEMA to fulfill this requirement since it also can be used by the property owner to obtain flood insurance. Please note that certification is normally sought through a Civil Engineer/Land Surveyor. Guidance for the new Certificate may be found here: Guidance Document

**Substantial Improvement/ Substantial Damage Application (to be submitted for any proposed improvement or repair project within an SFHA)

**Floodplain Development Permit Application is a permit application for any proposed development in an SFHA. The term “development” includes new or improved structures, placement of fill, excavation, storage of materials, and other activities.

**Please ensure copies of all forms/applications are submitted to the Building Department for floodplain development review and approval.
