Suspicious Device

On 12/29/15, Norton Police and Fire Departments responded to Rt. 123 Motors on Old Colony Road for a report of a suspicious device.

Workers reported a vehicle was bought at auction earlier in the day in Dighton. Once back at the facility, the vehicle was being cleaned when a device was found in the vehicle. The device was made of PVC, approximately 5 inches long with two end caps, with a fitting on one of the end caps.

MSP Bomb Squad was called. The device was x-rayed and components were located inside. No explosive components were found, but it was unknown what the device was and it was rendered safe.

Further investigation found that the device was homemade and designed to defeat tire pressure sensors in vehicles.
