Norton Glen Road Incident February 1, 2018

Earlier this morning, members of the Boston Police Gang Unit contacted Norton Detectives that they had an active warrant for a subject residing at Norton Glen Rd.

Officers responded to the area and spoke with a resident there.  Based on information developed at the time, officers believed the suspect to be armed and in the residence. 

Officers were unable to make any further contact and the subjects phone was found to be active at the address.

Based on this information and officer safety concerns a decision was made at approximately noon time to contact the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council SWAT team and resources.

METRO LEC arrived and some residents were evacuated while others were asked to shelter in place for their safety.    Attempts to contact the suspect by Negotiators were unsuccessful.  METRO SWAT conducted a methodical, safe search of the residential 2 floors and attic area.

The Norton Public Schools were advised and did not release any children off the buses and kept children at school until they situation ended.   The Norton Fire Department assisted on scene along with the Massachusetts State Police and Easton Police. 

After a thorough search of the building, the subject was not found to be there.
