On 6/16/2016 at 9:30am, Norton Police were notified by Mansfield police that they were looking for a vehicle in which a passenger had assaulted a Mansfield police officer.  The vehicle, a 2014 Gray Toyota Corolla being operated by William Poirier, age 60, of Marston Mills, was located in Norton by Norton Patrolman James Cameron.  Ptlm. Cameron attempted to stop the vehicle on East Main Street in Norton and the vehicle increased its speed and failed to stop.  The vehicle was pursued through Norton, Taunton and Raynham.  The vehicle finally stopped on Route 495 in Raynham due to a flat tire.  Poirier was placed into custody by Norton Ptlm. Cameron, with the assistance of other officers on scene.  Poirier was then transferred into the custody of Mansfield Police for the original incident prior to the pursuit.  Assisting Norton Police in the pursuit were Taunton Police, Raynham Police and State Polic

Throughout the pursuit, Poirier drove over the front lawns of several residences and weaved throughout traffic.  Poirier was charged by Norton police with failure to stop for police, operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, marked lanes violation and stop sign violation.  Poirier will appear in the Attleboro District Court at a later date for these offenses.

We have no booking photo because Poirier was transferred to the custody of Mansfield Police after the pursuit ended.
