Car crashes into Utility pole

On 11/21/2017, at 6:25pm, Norton Police and Fire Departments responded to New Taunton Avenue (Route 140) in Norton for a report of a motor vehicle crash where a vehicle struck a utility pole.  A black Acura was traveling north on New Taunton Avenue when it veered across the opposite travel lane before striking the utility pole.  The crash remains under investigation, but it appears that the vehicle had a mechanical failure which caused the operator to lose control of the vehicle.  After the utility pole was struck, the pole fell down on top of another vehicle that was traveling south.  A third vehicle also had wires fall on it as well.  The utility pole had no live power connected to it.  The wires on the pole were telephone and cable wires.  No one was injured in the crash.  Traffic was detoured for several hours while crews repaired the utility pole.
