Industrial Development Commission

Mission Statement

The Norton Industrial Development Commission (IDC) is appointed by the Board of Selectmen to act in an advisory capacity on behalf of the citizens of Norton to maximize employment opportunities and enhance the tax base within the context of the community’s character. It also recognizes that there is a need for a long-term vision and strategic plan to balance residential, open space, commercial, office, and service activities and needs within our community.

Within this context, the IDC views its mission as fourfold:

  1. To be an advocate for Norton and promote the Town in business, real estate, and commercial endeavors.
  2. To liaise with and support the development of appropriate industry and commerce.
  3. To serve as a key representative of the Town in discussions concerning companies wishing to move or expand within the community.
  4. To serve as a catalyst for economic development by informing Norton citizens of the benefits of an appropriate commercial base.

The IDC will advocate for quality jobs in quality settings, in clean, non-polluting, and safe environs that contribute to Norton’s quality of life and sense of place.
