Male charged with Weapon Violations

On Wednesday, November 9th, at 12:30am, Norton Police responded to the area behind Bernie and Phyl’s Furniture, 308 East Main Street, for a report of gunshots heard in the area.  Upon arrival, Norton Sergeant James Franco and Patrolman Sean Mahoney encountered three vehicles in a nearby parking lot with a two males in each vehicle.  After speaking with the males, and further investigation, officers discovered the males were shooting guns behind the warehouse.  Officers found a 40 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun, along with several rounds of ammunition in one of the vehicles, along with several air powered guns.  One of the occupants of that vehicle, Daniel Lastarza, age 27, of Johnston, RI, was placed under arrest for unlawfully carrying a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.  Lastarza appeared in the Attleboro District Court this morning.  Two of the other males were charged with unlawful possession of ammunition and will appear in the Attleboro District Court at a later date.  Easton Police also assisted with the incident.
