Car Stop leads to Warrant arrest and drug seizure

On Friday, 9/16/2016, at approximately 6:10pm, Norton Police Patrolman John Worrall stopped a vehicle on East Main Street that was traveling in the wrong direction on a one-way street, Library Square.  The black Nissan Pathfinder was being operated by Jon Nason, age 38, of Norton.  After stopping the vehicle, Ptlm. Worrall confirmed that Nason had an outstanding arrest warrant issued against him by the Attleboro District Court from a previous incident involving Norton police for class D drug distribution.

Nason was placed under arrest.  During the encounter, officers discovered in Nason’s vehicle a large amount of “Cannabutter”, a product of cooking cannabis plant with butter, which is considered a class C substance.  Officers also discovered Marijuana, other paraphernalia consistent with drug distribution, along with a safe and a large amount of cash.  A search warrant was sought for the safe and over $16,000 was seized from Nason.

Nason was charged with possession with intent to distribute a class C substance (Cannabutter), possession with intent to distribute a class D substance (Marijuana) and one way street violation.  Nason was held on $50,000 cash bail and will appear in the Attleboro District Court on Monday, September 19th.
