3 injured

On 9/8/2016, at 5:45pm, Norton Police and Fire Departments responded to a motor vehicle crash in the area of 95 East Main Street.  The crash involved four vehicles, all heading westbound on East Main Street.  The operator of a Cadillac SUV, Matthew Walsh, age 55, of Norton, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.  Walsh’s Cadillac struck the vehicle in front of his and then traveled off the roadway down an embankment.  That caused a chain reaction with the other three vehicles involved.  Walsh was charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation.

The operator of a third vehicle was transported to Sturdy Hospital as well for non-life threatening injuries.  The operator of the fourth vehicle was not injured.  The accident remains under investigation by Patrolman Nicholas Precourt.  Mansfield Fire Department assisted at the scene as well.  The crash caused heavy traffic on East Main Street for approximately one hour.  Two photos of the crash are attached.
