Real Estate and Personal Property Tax bills are sent semiannually and payable 4 times per year (August 1, November 1, February 1 and May 1). Payments must be received in the Collector's office by 4:30PM on the due date (7:30 PM on Thursday). Late payments will be assessed interest and late charges in accordance with the Massachusetts General Law.
To change the mailing address that appears on your tax bill, you must notify the Norton Assessors Office. For a Change of Address Form click here
Postmarks are not accepted as receipts dates. Payments must actually be received in the office to avoid additional charges.
Checks should be made payable to “ Town of Norton”
Please enclose the remittance portion of the bill to ensure proper credit. If you would like a receipt, enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope and the taxpayer portion of your bill along with the payment and remittance portion.
If you use your bank’s “On-Line” bill payment service such as “ Home Link “ be aware that the Town is actually sent a CHECK. It may take up to two weeks for the Collector's office to receive the check from your bank. Be sure to include the current bill number on your check.
If your bank or mortgage company pays your taxes, please contact them to ensure that they have the correct tax information for your account. As the property owner, you are responsible for the tax obligation.
All checks returned by the bank for nonpayment (ie: Non Sufficient Funds) will be assessed a $25.00 penalty in accordance with MGL Chapter 60, Section 57A.
Payments can be made online using your Checking or Savings Account, Mastercard, Discover or American Express.
ONLINE payments can be accepted until 11:59 PM on the due date without incurring any additional charges. The Town of Norton also accepts, Cash, Checks or Money Orders as form of payment.
A Payment Drop Off Box is located at the front entrance of Town Hall. All payments dropped off after 8:30 AM will be credited the next business day.
Requests for abatements or exemptions should be made with the Assessors Office.
