On 3/29/09 at approximately 03:32 AM, Norton Police received a report of a vehicle parked on Acre Road. The caller reported that the vehicle had been parked perpendicular at that location for approximately ninety-minutes, and that the headlights were shinning directly into his residence.
Upon arrival, Sgt. Robert Whitfield, located the vehicle parked across Acre Road, blocking the roadway. Sgt. Whitfield found the occupant of the vehicle to be sleeping.
The occupant was identified as:
Charles E. Keaney, age 50, of 37 Old Meeting House Green, Norton MA
Sgt. Whitfield detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage being emitted by Keaney as he spoke. Keaney was also unsteady on his feet, and submitted to field sobriety tests.
Sgt. Whitfield stooped the tests, after the first test was administered for fear Keaney would fall and injure himself.
Keaney was placed under arrest and charged with:
Operating under the Influence of Alcohol (4th Offence)
Operating as To Endanger
Keaney was held at the Norton Police Station on $2,500 cash bail Keaney will be arraigned on Monday March 30, 2009 at Attleboro District Court.
