THREATS AT CUMBERLAND FARMS
On 3/27/2009, Norton Police were dispatched to Cumberland Farms on Mansfield Avenue for a report of a male subject threatening store employees.  Store employees reported that the male subject, James Moniz, age 41, of 83 West Main Street Apt B, Norton, began arguing with them after he was told he could not have his dog with him in the store.  The employees reported that Moniz threatened them by showing them a holster attached to his belt with what appeared to be a handgun in it.  Moniz left the store in his vehicle prior to police arrival.  A short time later, his vehicle was observed by a Detail Officer working on Old Colony Road in Norton.  The Detail Officer, Norton Patrolman James Young, stopped the vehicle to investigate.  Ptlm. Rachel Samuelson and Ptlm. Scott Sweeting arrived on scene and the officers discovered the handgun to be a BB gun.  Moniz was placed under arrest and charged with Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon and Disorderly Conduct.  Moniz' dog was removed from the vehicle by Norton Animal Control Officer, Briane Plante.
