On February 7, 2009 at approximately 9:30 PM, the Norton Police Department received a panic alarm for Chartley Beer and Wine, 325 West Main Street. While officers were en-route, a call was received advising the department that a robbery had just occurred and male suspect had fled the area.
Officers checked the area, but were unable to locate the suspect.
The clerk, who was thrown to the grown, but uninjured, reported that a white male, possibly in his mid 40came into the store. After looking around for a short time the suspect grabbed the entire cash register and attempted to run from the store. The clerk attempted to stop the suspect, but the suspect was able to get away after knocking the clerk to the ground. The suspect fled with the cash register.
