TAUNTON MAN ARRESTED AFTER CRASH IN NORTON CENTER
On 10/4/09, at 5:40am, Taunton Police notified Norton Police that they were pursuing a motor vehicle northbound on Taunton Avenue (Rt. 140) reported as stolen. Norton Ptlm. David Schepis observed the suspect vehicle and the Taunton Police approaching the intersection of Taunton Avenue and East Main Street (Rt. 123). The vehicle attempted to turn at the intersection, but due to it's high rate of speed, crashed through a steel fence and entered the Norton common, finally resting approximately 20 yards into the common.
The operator of the vehicle, JOSEPH MOHAN IV, age 18, of 46 Flintlock Road, Taunton, was placed under arrest by Taunton Police. Mohan was transported the Sturdy Hospital by the Norton Fire Department. Damage to the common included the steel fence and landscaping.
Mohan is charged by Norton Police with Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Speeding, and Wantonly Injuring Real or Personal Property
