Wildlife tracking in the newly logged forest
Sunday, February 12 10am-noon Lincoln Woods, King Philip Rd
Join us for a hike through the newly logged forest to hunt for critters. Dress warmly and bring water.
We may snowshoe or just hike, weather dependent. Snow or rain storm cancels.
Introduction to the Conservation Land Stewards Program
Thursday, March 15 6:30pm-8:00 Norton Public Library
We will be introducing a new stewardship program where residents can help us monitor and maintain
conservation properties in town.
Vernal Pool Program
Saturday, March 31 10am-noon Johnson Woods, N Washington St.
Join us for a visit to a vernal pool and see the diverse amphibians, reptiles and invertebrates who
use the pool for their life cycle. Rain cancels the event.
Forestry Project Work Days
To be announced in Spring 9am-2pm Gertrude Cornish Town Forest
Volunteer work day! We will schedule two work days at the Town Forest to perform a precommercial
thinning of white pines and a small pruning project of certain larger white pines as part
of our Forest Stewardship Plan. We received the Community Forest Stewardship Grant for
$1,840.00 from the Division of Conservation and Recreation to hire our consulting forester, Phil Benjamin
to instruct and guide us in our project. We will also conduct a trail maintenance project with
interested volunteers.

Sunday, April 22 10am-noon Johnson Acres, N Washington St.
Last year’s cancelled event is rescheduled for this Earth Day. We will have a little scavenger hunt
through conservation property.
Canoe River Awareness Day Easton
Saturday, April 28 10am-noon Easton Water Works, tba
Canoe River Aquifer Advisory Committee celebrates its 25th year! We will join the Easton Water Department
in their awareness week. Come learn about our water system. Canoeing may be available
too.
Water Chestnut Removal Project
Saturday, May 19, and Saturday, June 2 9am-noon Barrowsville Pond, Power Street
Help! We need all the volunteers we can find to help us remove the water chestnut before it takes
over the whole pond. This is the only exotic invasive plant in our waterbodies that can be removed
manually before it produces seeds. Join us in our fourth year of the removal project. Please rsvp at
the Conservation Office at 508-285-0275. We have a limited amount of canoes available, please reserve
your spot by the Thursday before the scheduled event. We will do our best to accommodate
everyone. Anyone with their own canoe/boat/kayak is obviously welcome too! There will likely be a
third date added. If you are available during the week, please contact the Conservation Office.
