Attachment NameAttachment SizeAttachment Date

Last Updated: 2012/12/3

Current 2012 dog licenses will expire on December 31, 2012.  Licensing for 2013 runs from December 3, 2012 to February 28, 2013.  Late fees apply March 1, 2013.

For the convenience of our dog owners, dog licensing and payments may be done online at the Town of Norton website.  In order to take advantage of the online licensing & payment option, a current rabies certificate must be on file at the Town Clerk’s Office. For 2013 licenses a rabies certificate must have a 2013 expiration date.

About Rabies Certificates
If the rabies certificate is not on file or expired and you would like to utilize the online processing feature, you may fax a copy of your rabies certificate to 508-285-0297 or e-mail a copy to townclerksoffice@nortonmaus.com.  Please allow at least one week for us to process the certificate and update the database before going back online to process.

Please note that you can license your dog as long as the rabies certificate is current at the time of licensing, you do not need to wait to have a new rabies certificate that covers the rest of the licensing year, although it is expected that you will update the dogs rabies at time of vaccination expiration and that you will provide the town clerks office with a copy.

Online payment fees / options
Payment options online are ACH from checking account, MasterCard and Discover.  The bank charges a convenience fee for utilizing a credit card.  Beginning January 1, 2013 the bank will be charging $0.25 for ACH payments using a check.  For each online license issued, you will be charged $0.50 postage fee and your tag and license will be mailed directly to you.

License Deadlines
Licenses not renewed by March 1st, will be subject to a $5.00 late fee for the first month and $1.00 per month for each subsequent month.  Licenses not renewed by June 30th will also be subject to a $25.00 citation issued by the Animal Control Officer.

Residents can choose to search utilizing their last name, street name and dog name or simply by the animal key. The Search look up feature online requires input fields to match exactly as they appear in our data base. The animal key is a unique # given to an existing dog. If residents are having difficulty locating their information online and they are certain that a current rabies certificate is on file at the Town Clerks Office they can locate the animal key # on last year’s license or call the Town Clerks Office for the Animal Key. The animal key is # listed on your previous license paperwork after Species Dog ID# (not the tag #).

Additional information and forms regarding dog licensing is available on our dog licensing page of the website. Dog Licenses can also be processed in the office of the Town Clerk during regular business hours.  If you have any questions regarding the online process, please do not hesitate to contact the Town Clerks Office:
